Profile: Annie McGuinness
My name is Annie. I have been Manger of First Steps since we opened our doors in 2009. I have always loved working with children and as a result, I have almost 20 year’s experience in the Early Years Sector. From September 2003, I attended the Liberties College Dublin, gaining Level 6 qualifications in Early Years Care and Montessori teaching. I am also qualified SNA with experience in working with children with additional needs. I have studied with Mary Immaculate College completing the LINC Programme to further enhance my special needs qualification and became an Inclusion coordinator as a result. As part of my continuous professional development, I have completed many workshops in Aistear, Siolta, High Scope, equality, diversity and inclusion, and sign language. I am also a first aid responder and trained in Manual Handling, Fire Safety, Child Protection EL, Haccap, Lamh Sign Language, Hanen, GDPR, Health and Safety.
I enjoy zoning into the children’s interests and creating learning opportunities to further their learning and development. The children’s interests guide how the curriculum is delivered so each day is an adventure. I enjoy helping the children develop and discover their true potential. I feel I am privileged to be able to do this daily in my role.
