Quality & Support Officer

Maura is a Specialist in the field of Early Years Care and Education and holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Early Childhood Studies. With over 15 years’ experience of working within ELC & SAC services, Maura is fully equipped to support Community Childcare Organisations in the implementation and ongoing development of Síolta – the National Quality Framework and policy development relative to ELC and SAC services.

Maura has a unique way of supporting Early Years Managers and their services, by assimilating her academic learning of, theory, practice, research and reflective integration, with her practical Management experience with the Early Years profession.

Key to Maura’s role as Quality and Support Officer, is to support Early Years Managers in the delivery of quality outcomes for children and their families within the local communities. Using the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016 and the Child Care Regulations (The Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services)( Amendments) Regulations 2016 as an evaluation tool, Maura carries out in-house audits, to assist Community Childcare Organisations to identify additional measures that further safeguard the Health, Safety and Welfare of the children attending the service.
Maura provides mentoring and peer support to Early Years Managers and encourages their career development. In addition, Maura offers support within the HR Function; staff appraisals, conducting investigations, implementing recruitment procedures and carrying out interviews.
Maura is also a valued member of the CRANN Research Team and has assisted in many studies relative to the Early Years Sector.
